The riding:
This tour is planned for the avid experienced rider that does not have problems doing long rides multiple days in a row. See itinerary for specific daily ride distances and elevations. We will have shortcut options on some of the stages and are planning a rest day on day 4 with an optional ride for those with strong legs.
On this “Best of NW Norway” Tour we have tried to find the perfect balance between amazing scenery and challenging riding. We will cycle through some of Norway’s most magic scenery, where the contrasts are spectacular with fjords, snow capped mountains and waterfalls as part of the daily backdrop. The roads are for the most part quiet, paved secondary roads, mountain passes or bike paths. Busy roads are avoided as much as possible, but the area is popular amongst tourists so look out for those RVs.

Changes and deviations:
Our itinerary is an approximation of the tour. We will do our best to make this your bike vacation of a lifetime . Sometimes the weather or other unforeseen issues will force us to change the planned routes, hotels, activities, etc. We will do everything we can to improve the trip experience for all participants, and if that means changing the plan, we will!
Meetup:
Meetup point is Saturday 12 of august in the city of Ålesund between 1100-1500 on Day 1:
You will be picked up by us and transported to a Hotel.
How to get there:
We recommend traveling to Norway at least one day in advance to better cope with jet-lag and any unforeseen travel changes. We don’t want you to miss a day of riding because of travel delays.
Travel by plane to Ålesund from Oslo or Bergen with SAS or Norwegian is the best option. If time permits you can also take the cruise with a Hurtigruta ship from Bergen.
Return:
The return will be from Molde Saturday 19th of August.
Plan with a flight to Oslo or Bergen, or take the Hurtigruta cruise to Bergen. You can easily take the airport shuttle, or a taxi, to the airport from the hotel.
What’s Included:
Entrance fees and cost for all group activitiee
What’s not included:
We will be riding on paved roads, but will enter one or two short sections of smooth gravel along the route. A regular road bike with 26- 30mm tires will be a perfect fit for this tour. Bring your own or rent one from us. We are working with the Norwegian Specialized concept store, Velo City, and can offer a Specialized rental bike for the week if needed. Just let us know in advance and we’ll work with you to make sure it’s the right fit.
Clothing and gear:
Summers in Norway are generally pleasant with temperatures around 16-22 degrees C (60-72F) along the fjords, but can be significantly colder in the mountains and on rainy days. We have to be prepared for all seasons, so make sure to bring wind- and waterproof jackets and a set of long sleeves and pants/leggings. Other than that just bring your regular riding gear and some comfortable clothes and shoes for off- bike sightseeing and exploring.
A complete list of “must bring” and “nice to bring” gear will be sent out in an email well ahead of time.
